Fight Fire With Fire!
by The Searcher inwolves use their "loyalty" questions to trap others - "do you believe we're living in the last days/this is god's organization/faithful slave?
" - yet resolutely avoid discussing topics which put their org in a bad light, my "loyalty" question to them would be - "do you accept literature truth over bible truth?
" they will either run or be forced to ask for examples of alleged differences.any other suggestions for "loyalty" questions?.

Since many J.W. wolves use their "loyalty" questions to trap others - "Do you believe we're living in the last days/this is God's organization/faithful slave?" - yet resolutely avoid discussing topics which put their org in a bad light, my "loyalty" question to them would be - "Do you accept literature truth over Bible truth?" They will either run or be forced to ask for examples of alleged differences. -

My Mother reach out to me AGAIN!
by HereIgo inabout 3 weeks ago i created a thread due to my mom reaching out to me (we hadn't talked in over 2 years due to typical jw politics).
well, today she reached out again thought facebook messenger saying " i'm so sorry i hurt you my beautiful baby boy.
i'm hurting very much also.

Herelgo - I truly empathise with you.
As a "devout fader", I'm experiencing similar treatment. Trying to have a discussion about doctrines with J.W.'s can be very precarious - especially so with loved ones - because the truth is that they don't want to hear the truth about their revered organization and its leadership.

Here's a morbid thought...
by Rainbow_Troll init probably will never happen but... imagine the gb recieved some new light that told them the great tribulation was imminent.
the world is going to hell and all jws can expect until armageddon is terrible persecution the likes of which no christian has ever experienced in two thousand years.
but jehovah has a solution: put yourself and your family 'to sleep' and after armageddon's over, jehovah will 'wake his people up' at the resurrection.

This is not verbatim, but it basically said that even if J.W.'s couldn't offer any physical support for the wonderful provision of the new Britain Branch (which the G.B. had allowed to go ahead) everyone could contribute financially to the project. To facilitate such donations, a new contribution box would be installed at the back of the KH, and all the money received would also be used to finance other projects around the world. So much for the existing box which is allegedly for everything org-related - Worldwide Work donations. Also, this new Branch construction demonstrated the great expansion taking place in the organization.
Double-speak again from the org, and not one word about the new Branch being self-financed by the sales of all the lucrative London properties. The fleecing of the sheep continues at full speed.

Revelation already fulfilled
by stockholm_Syndrome init appears to me revelation was 'fulfilled' 1st century and we are fooling ourselves to think it applies to present times .
let's start with the opening statement:.
a revelation by jesus christ, which god gave him,+ to show his slaves+ the things that must shortly take place.. hmm-- shortly take place ?

Just a thought: not only does the language which you've highlighted indicate that Revelation was mostly applicable to its 1st century audience, but also the very fact that John never mentions a single word about Christians escaping the destruction of Jerusalem a few years earlier gives serious credibility to the view that Revelation was written prior to 66 C.E, and not around 96 C.E. as tradition claims. https://www.ecclesia.org/truth/revelation.html

JW Policy Regarding "Marking" From The Nov 2016 WT
by JW_Rogue injws will deny that local needs parts are often just a way to mark those in the congregation who are deemed to be "bad association" or who don't fall in line with the elders viewpoints.
now, for the first time in a long time the wt discusses their marking policy and how it works in the nov study wt:.
recall paul’s counsel regarding disorderly ones in the congregation.

The org bases its "marking" dogma on 2 Thessalonians 3:6-14, which reads -
"In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat." We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Take special note [mark] of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed." (NIV)
The context of Paul's instruction shows that he was referring to lazy, work-shy parasites who were living off the work of others - not for the insidious reasons which the org claims.
Can't think of any modern-day parallels at the moment.

Norway: Hospitals Refuse To Accept JW Blood Card
by darkspilver inbeen sent this - could be an interesting story - seems totally unrelated to recent events in canada, but see under the sub-heading 'debate after birth' - translation is via google, which is unfortunately not very good :(.
from the thursday 8 december 2016 print editon of agderposten newspaper - a norwegian daily newspaper with a circulation of just under 20,000 (so admittedly a relatively small regionally based circulation newspaper).
jehovas vitner har laget et blodkort for overføring i en akuttsituasjon.

Will those hospitals likewise ignore the warnings given by others via medical alert bracelets etc. if they are unconscious when admitted to hospital? https://www.medicalert.org.uk/
I sense a legal challenge on this one.

Should a Priest ,Elder ,Pastor withold a crime from the relevant authorities because of a confidential confessional ?
by smiddy inwhat do you believe , is a confessional something that is sacred between the the two parties involved ?
or does it depend on the severity of the crime/sin.. or is their a responsability of the recpient of the confession to divulge what he/she knows about the crime.?.
what we see in movies ,tv, etc shows it is a no no .but is that true ?the confessional is only between the two involved.?.
-

Since "confession" to a priest or elders is verifiably an unscriptural, religious dogma, there is absolutely nothing "sacred" about it! Therefore, it should not be used as a justification for concealing serious crimes.
